Training Resolutions
- grow our skills base
- stay current
- don’t get stale
- give every learner what they need
- use the right technology for the purpose
- grow our own skills
Proposed Training
The new year will see the implementation of our new teaching resource for the CIV Training and Assessment TAE(40110) over at 2FL.com.au and January courses starting in the week beginning 16th January. So far we have planned a Wednesday CIV TAE at Kogarah and another one on Thursdays at Ashfield! Our delivery method has been tried and tested throughout 2010 and 2011 and we know the seven week format offers an effective timeline for participants. We are seeing steady requests for TAE upgrades and recognition of prior learning for the full CIV TAE. We know we dont offer the cheapest upgrade at $395, but we do know from client feedback that our RPL service is more extensive and provides excellent support as well as really caring that clients achieve the recognition they are due! We look forward to supporting clients RPL in a broader range of qualifications this year, we have already had success with RPL applications in the area of Management and Hospitality!
We want to be an RTO!
We have a fantastic partnership agreement with the Registered Training Organisation (RTO ) All Australian Training which allows us to provide competency based nationally accredited qualifications – but the temptation is there to become our own RTO. I am all for collaboration so perhaps being an RTO will allow Creative Vision to reciprocate partnership agreements with some of our RTO friends, for a broader provision of courses and services that will benefit all of our customers.
Assessment Services
mycreativevision.net have been providing services in marking and assessment to another RTO. This work is much appreciated as it provides a community of experienced and professional educators to consult and share practice with. Opportunities for consultation between practitioners are one way of validating the assessment decisions that are being made.
Consultation with employers and industry
Another opportunity mycreativevision has been grateful for has been the chance to consult with employers when servicing their trainees with Retail, Frontline Management and Business Training for All Australian Training. This work has taken us across NSW and given us insights into time with small business owners and employers in bakeries, smash repair shops, newsagents. The chief insight would be the positive way most employers support the training of their workers and the benefit they perceive that the training adds to the effectiveness of their staff and thereforee the profitability of their businesses.

Anne
Hi Anne,
As a freelance/ contractor trainer and assessor, i understand how hard and fragmented it can be when trying to keep up to date with our professional appearances. What with an increasing pressure to undertake and be involved in active networking activities; initiate, maintain and screen social networking; keeping up to date with industry VET training and assessment happenings, updates and events; maintaining and increasing our knowledge and skills in our key areas of expertise such as business services, TAE, community services and health etc, and not to mention our need to earn CPD points to remain registered as a Nurse, and/ or to also maintain and demonstrate currency in the industry(ies) in which we purport to have expertise….. we can be fairly busy people. Who would have time for a social or family life?
I must admit to having several lapsed Twitter, Flickr, Drop Box, and Ggroup sites, as I find it initially hard to be motivated to go there with any routine or regularity, and then secondly thinking of things to write or say decreases my motivation further, and thirdly I wonder what poor soul has such a sad existence that they would want to read (or heaven forbid return) to my blog. None the less I do read other peoples blogs, but not on a regular basis, and not unless a topic heading interests me, and certainly not unless I feel inclined to on the spur of the moment, and generally my motivation is because I personally know the person.
Another reason I prefer not to dabble too deeply into the ties of internet blogs, posts, is my hominian preference for dealing with and talking to people in person, with real faces, smiles, handshakes and body language. I have always loathed (but creatively manage) telephones for the same reason.
My comments, musings and opinions above, indicate to me that I should add these to my own blog. So i shall love and leave you, so you can ponder at your will. Sue
Hi Sue,
Thanks for your comment! I know what you mean about having lapsed accounts, I can only keep them up when I have a real purpose for them. Always with elearning and social media is the creative challenge of which bits to use in what configuration for what outcome!
I do find blogging helps with the staying up to date and networking thing! Conversations like this are the personal handshake online! It would be great if you would post the link to your blog here for ongoing conversation, connection and networking!

Hi Anne!
Happy New Year!
This year is going to be great. Love the look of your website now. Interesting and accessible.

Thanks for keeping in touch Anne.
I’ve had a lots of struggles with my training goals over the last 12 months, so I feel for your need to talk about this.
I really like the “header” graphic “My Creative Vision” – crisp, uncomplicated and focussed. I have noticed that people who persist with blogging and online expression tend to develop clarity in their online presences – this can only be a ggod thing.
Although Introduction to Blogging is my most popular course (most enrolments) I have taken to making my comments through my wiki at MarkMcMahon-Online. This lets me unfurl a themed page as I develop a topic – I don’t know that chronological posts themed by tags would be as useful to me, but time will tell.
My big topic at the moment is “Peer-to-Peer Mentoring”. I wrote a couple of paragraphs on this a couple of days ago and got 32 visitors overnight! This is encouraging,
For training my focus in e-learning will be on touch screen technology as a way of expanding the user base. For example, among people recovering from mental health problems there tends to be an aversion to traditional computers but many more of the same folk will use touch-screen “job search kiosks” (these used to come with the old Job Network provider contracts) even though the kiosks provide less depth and breadth of search results.
